By This Point In Senior Year…
Every senior’s journey through post-secondary planning is different. Below is a general checklist for students who are college or trade school bound. Individual colleges may have different deadlines, requirements, and procedures.
*College / Trade School applications complete or nearing completion
*Free Application for Federal Student Aid – complete or near completion
*CSS Profile – a deeper dive into parent financials – Not required by most colleges
*If the FAFSA is complete – look for an email from noreply@grantus.pheaa.org
- Follow the directions in the email to apply for the PA State Grant
- This email is sent to the student’s email, not the parent’s.
- This email may take a few weeks to receive after filling out the FAFSA.
*Seniors who are in good shape with the tasks above should start shifting their focus to scholarship searching and application. More info to come on that in the next update.
Tracking Your Seniors’ College Application Status:
Once a student has applied to a college or trade school, these organizations will usually send an email inviting the applicant to create a “student portal” account to track their application status. Important information may be conveyed by the college about missing documents, acceptances, and financial aid offers.
Please remind your senior to check their email for these student portal emails and to check their newly created student portal accounts about once a week to see what the college may be communicating.
BCCC Partnership:
QCHS has long had a great relationship with Bucks County Community College. Below are a few ways that the QCHS Future Readiness Center and BCCC are planning to support seniors in transition to their next phase of education.
*Mr. Gozzard & Mr. Berninger can assist with students applying to BCCC
*Campus Tour – In February, seniors will get a chance to tour the Upper Campus of BCCC in Perkasie and learn what it takes to be a successful college student.
*BCCC Course Selection – In April, faculty from BCCC will meet with interested QCHS seniors to pick out their Fall BCCC classes before the senior even graduates from high school!
