Quakertown Community High School teacher Sandi Frisch, advisor to the school’s Future Business Leaders of America club, has secured a $2,600 grant from the Bux-Mont chapter of the Pennsylvania Society of Tax and Accounting Professionals. The organization seeks to encourage students to consider accounting as a career.
“I was really surprised to receive the email that we won but I’m really excited about it and the opportunity it affords our students,” Mrs. Frisch said.
The grant will be used to fund travel expenses for QCHS FBLA students who qualify for state and national competitions.
Samantha McDonald of J L Accounting said Quakertown’s grant application “was really exciting to receive. That opportunity for students to travel to competitions is absolutely phenomenal. It really encourages student participation, which is what the organization is excited to see.”
The society invited Mrs. Frisch to its annual dinner, where she took QCHS junior and FBLA treasurer Richa Chawla. The event included speakers discussing tax-avoidance strategies, and Richla, who plans to study finance, said “I found it very interesting and learned a lot about what accountants do.”
